Aloha
Workhat | ‘wərk,hat | : a multimedia production group in Honolulu, Hawai‘i.
Founded in 2021, Workhat is the commercial operations of Jeff Hawe – a photographer and writer with two decades of media production experience. After studying photography and film to earn a Media and Theater Arts degree Hawe launched into professional work in 2004. The first decade of his career was full of adventure as he made his mark photographing and writing about professional snowboarding and adventure travel.
During this period his work spanned five continents and was published in prominent magazines from Japan to Europe, Canada to South America – including the esteemed National Geographic. Hawe served as a staff photographer for Germany’s Snowboarder MBM and U.S. based The Snowboarders Journal. He regularly worked with top film production companies of the industry, including Absinthe Films, Pirate Productions and Teton Gravity Research. Hawe also produced commercial work for Patagonia, Volcom, Quicksilver, Swatch, Billabong, K2, The North Face and more.
After a decade traveling the world, Hawe was hungry for a challenging new adventure. He decided to make home in Hawai‘i, drawn to the islands by the geography, the culture… and his love of the ocean! Hawe’s work in Hawai‘i evolved with a focus on commercial projects and video production as he began to freelance for local businesses and publications.
In 2021 after three years as Managing Editor of Hawaii Business Magazine, Hawe launched Workhat Media from Honolulu, HI with a mission to produce high-quality media for clients. Some of Hawe’s most recent projects include collaborations with Kona Brewing, Matson, Kimi Werner, Conservation International, Hawaii International Film Festival and work on an A24 film.
Workhat values integrity in service, hard work and a down to earth approach. It is the hat you put on when it’s time to get shit done.
